    Default [ROM] CyanogenMod 7.1 RC1

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the awesomeness we like to call the CM Mainline.

    Directions:
    Method 1:
Start with a rooted Eclair/Froyo running Eclair/Froyo Bootloaders (do not ask us how to do this).
    Install ROMManager Premium.
Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. Pick Captivate (MTD) (ignore the warning about not having an official, pick ClockworkMod 2.x).
Make sure you can reboot into ClockworkMod recovery from ROMManager. Reboot and get back into ROMManager Premium.
    Choose download ROMs.
    Pick the CyanogenMod Nightlies.
    Check the Google Apps addon.
    Check Backup current ROM!
Check wipe data, cache, dalvik cache.
    Let ROMManager finish the installation.

    Method 2:
    Make sure you're running a Eclair/Froyo Firmware (2.1 or 2.2) and Eclair/Froyo Bootloaders!
Root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery.
    Do a Nandroid backup!
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition)
Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
Optionally install the Google Addon (through ROMManager is easiest)

    Updating:
Use either ROM Manager or the downloaded file from the TD Mirror. ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP!! These nightlies are possibly unstable and can break functions of your phone. Build 14 is an example of this. While you can get away with it (I spent months on CM nightlies on my Aria without running into any issues), you don't want to be in a position where you can't use your phone until a new nightly comes out.

[WARN]This will not work with Gingerbread bootloaders![/WARN]

You cannot install another kernel on top of this, unless it specifically says CM7 (such as Platypus, Glitch, and The Escapist's kernel).

Be sure to read and know what you are doing before installing this.

Oh yeah, and thank atinm, codeworkx, and the rest of Team Hacksung for their amazing work!

put on cm7 last night, and have a host of problems that i don't want to get into right now. anyways hoping the nightly build that just posted would fix this if i flashed it, but i can't get it to flash.

I try to flash it in clockwork mod recovery and i get:

    installing update.....
    assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device")
    captivatemtd" || getprop("ro.build.product")
    "captivatemtd" || getprop("ro.product.board")

    E:Error in /sdcard/cm_captivatemtd_full-1.zip
    (status 7)
    Installation aborted.

anyways should i flash with odin and start over seeing as how i have at least 5 or more issues with cm7?

changed my mind. I will get into some of the issues i'm having.

    1. lock screens wont work, just turns screen off and back on with no lock screen. I have been all through the settings and found no solution to this.

    2. Calendar doesn't work, i go to add something to calendar and it says, "you have no calendars"

    3. i lost all my contacts, are they gone forever?

I think those are my main issues, that i still can't seem to get worked out right now. theres a few more minor things.

Did you flash GAPPS (Google Apps) after installing CM7? I think because CM is so widely used, The Goog singled them out for including their "licensed" apps in their distribution, and forced them to have it separate. If you hafe no GAPPS, you have no linked Google account, and you have no contacts or Calendar. Just guessing. Login to gmail and see if your contacts are there... they had better be, that is where Android wants them to be. If you were keeping them on your SIM, you need to import them to gmail so you CAN'T lose them.

Not sure on the lockscreen. May want to reflash the ROM and start over.

I got most of my issues worked out. yes, i had already flashed and synced the google zip. the calendar magically started working. The contacts were on my sd card and i imported them. I'll sync them to google now. lockscreen still isn't working, so i just downloaded simply lockscreen and am using that instead. i'm fine with it.

thanks for your help, if i run into anything else i'll be sure to let you know. lol

Make sure the lockscreen is enabled in the settings.

The nightly is just in testing right now (just figured that out ). Our build prop doesn't say Captivatemtd, so it just fails. They'll put out instructions when those nightlies are safe to use.

Add the lockscreen toggle to the notification bar widget, and toggle it a few times. Then reboot if it doesn't work.

Now I see this, after I have one-clicked to stock and started downloading via ROM manager.

Those files should still be good. Just make sure you get the Team Hacksung files.

    ok, new problem.

My phone won't ring on incoming calls. throws them automatically into voicemail.

checked all the usual call settings and nothing seems a miss.

    any ideas?

Also, the JL3 modem may not like you. I have good results with the JK4 modem, which you can find linked on the CM main page.

EDIT- Up and running ok on CM again here.

So modems could affect my ring not coming through? If someone calls it goes straight to voicemail and a missed call shows up on my phone

    2 Questions:
    1. is this still as stable as it was before it went mainline?
    2. does it wipe my data every time i flash a nightly, or it it like a normal update?

    1. It should be. Any stability issues would have to do with CM stuff, not team hacksung stuff.
    2. No, its just like the old nightlies.

Reflashed rom and still no incoming calls. I'm going to flash back to stock and then flash cm7 again. If that doesn't work i guess no cm7 for me.

Newest nightly from TD site is working fine. The build.prop check now accepts captivate, so no issues installing. Go get it!

@pittsm-did you get it worked out?

woke up to find the nightly was working. so i flashed that first, still can't get incoming calls to come through. so frustrating, because everything else about the rom is perfect. If i could just get this one thing figured out it'd be great!

You may be on one of the captivates that can't use i9000 modems. Did you try the kb1 in the source forge? It has horrible voice quality but it should work.

How has everyones battery life been? I unplugged this morning around 6:30am and down below 50% by 11:30am. I've received one call, sent a few texts, and checked email a couple of times. I hadn't sent any emails, and its been in my pocket most of the day.

I'm really hoping the battery gauge just isn't accurate.
