    Default Rooting instructions needed

i am the proud owner of a droid x running a rooted 2.3.3. .596 courtesy of team black hat, BUT my friend wants to root her captivate and i promised i would look into it. so heres what i need. and thank you so much ahead of time for anyones help. i love these forums.

If someone could point me in the direction of a captivate sbf file (in case i mess it up.) that would be awesome. and secondly i would like the scoop on how to root. i have z4root but i hear it doesnt work on froyo for the captivate. any suggestions? she mostly wants to unistall all the bloatware, but i need her phone rooted first.

thank you so much for your help

The Samsung equivalent to SBF would be a TAR file (because it has the extension .tar), and uses a Windows program called Odin to flash. See this thread.

    For rooting see this thread.

Either that, or just freeze them with TB.

i'd skip that thread altogether. its such a headache.

just root, install a custom froyo rom and be done with it. quick and easy.
