The back cover is part of the antenna?

Just playing with my captivate and noticed the two "copper" contacts on the back of the phone that make contact with two patches on the back of the cover. Any ideas? Maybe this is something entirely different and just new to me?

one of the reviews i watched on youtube said that the battery cover is indeed part of the antenna

That's kinda cool, kinda throws that ip4 "antenuation" (sp) argument out the window when we fully palm our antenna and its fine.
