Failure on internal SD card

A friend of mine just showed me this morning that his Captivate is reporting a problem with the internal SD card and suggests formatting to fix. He's taken it to an AT&T shop to see what they say since he isn't satisfied just yet with the format solution.

So far my Captivate has been flawless (excepting the AGPS bug that I've heard Samsung is in the process of fixing). Has anyone here seen this type of internal SD card failure?

yes. My external sd card randomly ejects and will not even reload sometimes and I have to completely restart my phone (which can take almost a full 8 minutes after both separate media scanners run) to even get music playing. its quite frustrating.
