(HELP)Continous Error Message when downloading apps.

I've tried to download a few apps on the Galaxy S I'm using temporarily. I was use to having a Galaxy S3 where the Market Place is different...when I went to download some of the primary apps I use, it says (for example) "Twitter is unable to download, please try again". And when I try again, it repeats the same thing. A red warning symbol will also show up in the task bar with the same message.

I've read that you should clear the cache or uninstall updates and restart- I've tried both and it still continues. Is there a way to update the market to the newest version? Or is there something else wrong?
