Did you call Samsung and ask if they'll replace it? You have nothing to lose- and they might, as a pr stunt.
Maybe you could ask whether it really is gorilla glass?

Ouch. Always, ALWAYS buy the insurance on these things. Unless you have truck loads of money laying around, its the affordable way to go.
