So I've had a few problems with the MicroUSB port on 2 Captivates. The cables seem to fall out way too easy.
The problem is the recessed port. If you look closely, there's a ledge (piece of plastic) on the back side of the inside of the port. This tends to prohibit a snug connection because the rubber/plastic of the USB cable hits that edge before the metal (male) connector can fully seat into the metal (female) port.
Since I buy all of my cables from Monoprice I decided to experiment with a $.80 cable.
I took a razor blade and shaved the bottom side of my MicroUSB cable (the wide side) at an angle. By doing this my cable seats further into the port thus provided a snug and tighter connection.
