Default Problems with AT&T Froyo Update

I am running a rooted Captivate with Cognition ROM. I did the AT&T froyo update through KIES Mini last night. Ever since the phone will give me multiple error windows asking me to force close unresponsive processes. When I force close them, they immediately pop up again. I cannot get to anything on the phone other than to shut it down. I can't get to the settings menu to get into debugging mode. When I try to run the KIES update again, it says I am on the latest version, so I must have Froyo - but the phone is un-usable. Ideas?

Look over at the XDA forum for one click ODIN back to JF6 ROM. Read the instructions in the first post carefully, otherwise you'll have problems, and scare yourself (nothing that can't be fixed though).

Use that, it'll make you eligible for the AT&T update again. Note that installing JF6 might erase pictures, music etc, and it will certainly erase all your apps, so back up what you care about.

Hope this helps, if so, press the thanks button, it makes me smile.

Thanks to you both for your very helpful posts. I was able to utilize the various downloads and procedures that you suggested to good effect. It took about two hours of tinkering, but I was able to get my Captivate back to factory presets, then did the Froyo update without any further problems. I'm smiling again!
