Texting read confirmation?

Is there a way to see if a text that was sent was read/opened by the receiver?

I called AT&T today and they had no idea why the delivery and read options are not available like it says in the manual. They forwarded me to Samsung and I jumped through Samsungs hoops (pressing #s) to get to customer service to only have the recording tell me they were currently closed.

Does anyone actually have the delivery/read option on their phone?

In Messaging-

MENU-SETTINGS-TEXT MESSAGE (SMS) SETTINGS-DELIVERY REPORTS

Checkbox on first screen in menu.

I don't have any option to choose "Delivery Reports".

The only options under SMS I have are:
Manage SIIM card messages
Message center
Input mode

Are you stock 2.1, upgraded stock 2.2, or ?

Try installing Handcent to manage SMS, and see if you can use the options there.

I spoke to a Samsung rep and he told me to send the phone back to "mobile repair" to get a "software reflash"...I don't know if I want to go through all that to just get the delivery/read option.

The phone I currently have is a "refurbished" phone has the 2.2, this is a "refurbished" phone because I needed to return my "new" orginal phone because it keep shutting off by itself.
