Loose charge port?
Hi all. I got a captivate for daughter and unlocked it for tmobile. I have several micro usb chargers but all of them seem to slip and wont stay seated. Other phones I can still use while charging, but hers has to lay still or the charger falls out.
So I don't know if this is a phone design issue or a loose port. The charger doesn't seem to seat fully. Do OEM chargers have less plastic so the charge prong is longer?

First, make SURE that the door slider is all the way opened and clicked into locked position. There is about a 1mm difference, and it matters even for the cord that comes with it. Some people have shaved the plastic on the cable ends for an easier fit.
I would be hesitant to leave the cable in while using our phones at-ear. Some charge only cables (thinner, less shielding) might be ok, but a sync cable would put stress on the already fragile connection. I always disconnect if I want to use the phone at ear. This is my first micro USB phone... that thing is so small. Maybe I baby it, but I can't imagine it staying connected with any movement. BT for the compromise
.

Thanks for the feedback. I hadn't thought of shaving the plastic down, might try that. FYI she is usually trying to play games while charging, but I really object to even that because I know how fragile the charge ports can be.

Same problem with mine. Frankly, I feel it is a design defect. The charging port is too far recessed.

The other day while in a phone repair shop that I use from time to time, one of the repair guys and I were talking about the captivate and I asked what the biggest problem was that they see with it. He said the biggest problem was repairing or replacing the charging port because people like to use their phone while it was charging and put too much stress on it. Just passing the word!
