shutting off

Can someone please tell me why my samsung captivate finds it necessary to shut it's self off in the middle of the night for no reason there fore making me late for work because the alarm will not come on if phone is off?

Sounds like the charge death issue. I never had it, and I thought they took care of it awhile ago. You've upgraded to 2.2, right?

Contact AT&T customer service and they will exchange your phone for you.

Mine also re-starts somewhat randomly. This is a known issue?

No. The charge death mentioned in the above post is however.

If your phone is restarting randomly, during use, with no Force Close notification or anything... is probably a hardware issue. I would bring it up with ATT as well. Does it get hot?

Nope. In the winter I assumed it was because it got cold in my pocket (and I figured it just was what it was), but now it's not overheating and also randomly restarting maybe once a week.

Definitely want to contact AT&T. I had the same issue, and was issued a replacement. The replacement also provided a much better GPS experience as well...bonus!
