    Default questions from a new/soon to be AT&T customer

    I will be switching from Sprint to AT&T to get the Note 2 and was wondering about the 4G, My mom has the HTC Vivid and it has the "4G" HSPA+ radio and the LTE radio, Will the Note 2 be the same way? Where I live I get AT&T LTE signal but the HSPA+ would be a good fall back as my girlfriends old Inspire was getting 9 mbps on H+.

    I just did the opposite. Be warned that AT&T doesn't allow you to do video chat over the cellular network. It also doesn't allow you to substitute visual voicemail with google voice.

    I've maybe made 1 video chat over cellular in my life, I also don't use Google Voice so I should be good. I had AT&T for 6 years then switched to Sprint. I was happy with it around the city (Nashville) but anywhere outside of Nashville you won't have signal which is why I am switching back after 1 year of Sprint.

    I'm confused. Can you please explain in more detail? I thought we (AT&T) can get visual voicemail like the iPhone?

    AT&T is a GSM network and you'll see that. It's just better technology than Verizon and Sprint. The LTE works very well and falls back to HSPA+ and is very consistent. AT&T also operates its 3G (HSPA+) service on the 850/1900mhz band which means it penetrates buildings very well. LTE is still a new technology and does have its bugs. It periodically goes out and when it does you'll have HSPA+ which is more than efficient for any streaming service.

    Now I'm sure you know a downside of AT&T are their tiered data plans. Use the network a lot, pay the price. At times, you'll also notice a lot of congestion on the network. AT&T is the second largest carrier in the US. I miss the days on T-Mobile where I could pull 10mbps down on HSPA+ in the middle of the day.

    It does have visual voicemail through the carrier app. But you can't substitute it work Google voice. It won't configure.

    Same here. I had Sprint for two years (Lafayette, IN) and it was fine within city limits. Get just beyond the interstate though, nada. I live two miles outside of city limits, no Sprint signal. I'm stuck with the either of the big two, both of which have good signals here, but rape you with data plans.
