Red Line Through Microphone

While trying to send a text, I go to messaging then tap to enter message and keyboard appears. When I tap on microphone, it appears but it has a red line through it and my only option is to cancel. AT&T support has been no help. I have removed the battery to do a reset but I still have the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Did it ever work? If yes, if it were me, I'd try a factory reset - extreme I know, but it may be your only option. If it's never worked, get AT&T to replace it.

@alreda: I hope this is not a silly question, but do you have a non-microphone accessory attached when this occurs?

I was able to duplicate your experience by connecting a pair of non-microphone headphones, and the red line went away when I disconnected the headphones.

Of course, as it would happen, I tried it again, and the second time the red line only stayed on for a few seconds and went away? The second time I was able to speak with the headphones connected? Now I'm really confused.
