ICS Update

Got the update yesterday...so far it is running much smoother and the response time seems to be much faster. The battery life seems to be a bit better (from what I have seen thus far)

I did install nova launcher, which I am loving so far...I not sure if I am missing something but I can't seem to resize any widgets other than the default weather widget using touchwiz, which is why I went with nova.

Talking with Tech support guy Alan,(Great guy) is seams there's an issue with Vista Service pack 2 andi Kies. They have set it up the super brains to figure it out. Windows 7 seams to be fine.

So there's that. And the wait for ICS goes on.

Thanks for this. Was trying to update kies on my vista desktop. Installed Kies on a Windows 7 laptop and it is installing Kies as we speak. Had ICS on the international version of the GNote and like many have said not a big difference, but at least it is ICS!

Update went fine. Got me some ICS. Looks like you can still do app to SD which I cannot on my SGSIII.

a bit disappointed to see kies has problems with vista. And its not available ota. Att another fail. Guess i gotta wait until i buy a laptop to get ics as mine is a heap of junk on vista :-(

When I use Kies this is the message I get even after updating Kies....Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies.....does anyone know what my issue might be?

This means you have flashed your device or gone from the Stock ROM with the Stock Modem. You will not be able to update and will have to flash back to Stock first and then update or go the long route.

Put your phone in download mode. Load up the Kies Software. Select Tools>Firmware upgrade and initialization option. Input your S/N and Model exactly as it is seen on the box/back of phone. This means Caps will be necessary where present.

Click okay and away you go. I went from a rooted custom ROM called The Hybrid back to Stock ICS using this very method. I also have got CWM Touch and Root access.

Well the good news is that with the method I have described, your flash counter shouldnt go up. At least not from what I have seen.

On top of that it should also keep your apps and all that installed. I had everything still on my Note when the update was done.

Check your Settings. Under Display. Not hard to find.

Updated yesterday. So far so good. Everything is way smoother but I think battery life on mine is a bit worse. Hopefully it'll get better. HATE that the brightness notification slider was taken away with the ICS update.:'(

That sucks! That was one of the best features. Happy you mentioned it though because next time i would try to change the brightness i would have thought my phone was messed up.

Got the ICS update via Kies (used the phone in download mode - tools - firmware upgrade route) worked seamlessly in about 30 mins. So far so good. I had each of the 2 leaks on my phone and 1st had many forced closes and freezes, second not so many but some, so far so good for the first 2 hours - will try and remember to come back and edit this post in a day or so.

One goodie I noticed so far as I restore my apps - 2 apps that wouldn't install under the previous leaks installs now (the CBS Fantasy Baseball app and ScreenSlider), hope you find that too!

I have a GNex too and just read that Jelly Bean is pushing to that today as well.

Is this Android Nirvana or what!!!

droid Nirvana is absolutely correct... my only gripe with this ICS fix is that, the scrollable wallpaper is still an issue, it WILL NOT scroll unless you download another launcher, Yes I love NOVA for the lack luster ICS home launcher, but sheesh samsung, can you fix the freaking scrolling wallpaper, and not a static background image?!
