GMail app vs. Built in Email app

Let me start off by saying that I USE GMail. However, I loathe the actual gmail APP that comes with Android. I like however, the built in email program. How can I delete, shut off, remove whatever, the gmail APP. I am getting double emails and notifications. I just don't want the GMAIL APP.

under settings, sync, set the gmail app to do nothing.

You need to check your bill as AT&T loves to bill folks $5.00 a month for this feature.which is why you are receiving dual notifications.

I always use the Gmail third party app yo insure that this billing issue does not pop up.
