Stock message app issues

I use Handcent, and want to do two things with the stock messaging app.

1) How do I add a security lock to the stock app?

2) Can I remove the stock app from the quick launch bar or is it stuck there forever?

Dunno the answer to your 1st question.

2nd question I do.

On the main screen, hit applications.

A reorganize icons box should pop up and tell you you need to switch to customize grid, hit the switch button.

Then drag your handcent app (or whatever app you want to replace any of those with) down over the existing messaging app on the bottom grid. Then hit home button. DONE.
