Noob ? About cpu

This is the first device I've rooted and rom'd. I was wondering which ROMs were over clocked if any the cm10 settings are 384min1512max. Is that considered to be overclocked? I'm slowing learning this stuff:o

No, it's not considered overclocked. The kernel that comes with cm10 doesn't support overclocking. I'd recommend flashing a custom kernel such as kt747 or lean kernel.

How high can you safely over clock and is it really worth the risk

I use kt747 and overclocked to 2.1ghz. It's safe so far as I know, but of course there's always risks with phone modification. As for practicality.. Most applications will run fine with stock clocks and even lower than that.
