How to Root on a Mac?
Im a former iPhone user and just made the switch to the GS3. I would like Root my GS3 that is currently on 4.1.1 but im not exactly sure whats the best method of doing this since im use to jailbreaking iPhones. If theres not an easy way to root on a mac I can boot into windows if that is required. I just rather root on osx if the option is available.

Re: How to Root on a Mac?
OSX is a PIA when it comes to working with Android. It can be done, but using Windows is so much easier.
I recommend partitioning your hard drive via boot camp and installing Windows 7 (do not try and load Windows 8!) You only need 30 to 40 gigabytes on the partition. If you arr gonna go Android either do this or buy a cheap windows pc.
You can find all the Samsung drivers, the Odin program and root files you will need on the XDA forum (or this forum), once you have Windows installed on your computer. - 12-31-2012, 09:52 AM #3
Re: How to Root on a Mac?
I just did mine a while ago (on my mac) I got the info from skunkape who pointed me to xda forums. But in any case there are some tutorials on youtube "how to root us galaxy on mac osx" that helped me and it was easy. I downloaded a zip file, extracted, placed on my desktop and then ran some commands on terminal. Now I'm just doing the research on what roms I want to install.

Re: How to Root on a Mac?
Yes, Root using Mac OSX is much easier and simple compared to windows. I have both Windows and Mac. Tried both and looks Mac is simpler than windows. After root, you could download ROM manager to flash recovery mode/install superuser from playstore. You are ready to go and try the ROMS.
