Default Do we lose access to AT&T wifi hotspots when using Custom Roms?

I'm on Task650 and I'm unable to join AT&T wifi hotspots. Instead of automatically joining and gaining access, I can get a webpage asking for account information. My wireless account info does not work.

Is this to be expected in Custom Roms? The feature is important to me as I have a crappy cell signal at work but we have a dedicated AT&T wifi hotspot to compensate. I would much rather avoid switching back to stock but I may not have a choice.

Anyway, I'm hoping there is a workaround?

I'm still on mostly stock, but I have had a similar issue. Instead of updating over kies, I flashed a root injected update for JB. After I did that, I couldn't get my hotspot to work. I would turn it on and my phone would basically freeze, then refuse to turn the hotspot on. I got around this by installing a third part app to turn on the hotspot. Portable Hotspot something or other. All it does is turn in on, but it works.

Hey. I actually meant AT&T's wifi hotspots like Starbucks. Is that what you're referring to as well?
