I plan to trade my note for the S III.

IMO. Sounds like a bit of mis-information. Most sources point to shipment on or before June 21st. Some in this thread have heard from customer service that shipping has commenced on the 18th. The device should be in the stores on June 21st. Even if shipping doesn't start until the 21st, it will be delivered by the 23rd at the earliest well ahead of the date above which probably applies if you ordered well after June 6 when pre-orders started.

I preordered on June 8th around 11am, I pre-ordered in store and I have an email saying that it would take 3-5 business days for my order to get shipped so I would assume that yesterday would of been the actually shipping date. I guess I'll have to give them a call later this afternoon.

I bet they are holding the pre-order info so that at their event they can tell everyone that its shipping today! Then maybe the status will change? Who knows just a thought!

The 3 to 5 business days applies only if the phone is released. Conventional wisdom is shipping on or before the 21st. If you don't get a shipping email by the 23rd, then I would call and ask but not before.

I had to register to comment with a few points. I have pre-ordered the S3 as well, and have been watching for news of shipments. This thread has been interesting and entertaining. There are a couple of things that I think many people are forgetting...that I wanted to politely bring up.

1. There are many who were hoping for a early ship, and many seem frustrated to not have the phone in hand by now. The thing most people seem to be forgetting is that tomorrow, June 20, is the New York Launch event for the US version of the S3. (Samsung holding Galaxy S III event June 20 | Mobile - CNET News) I would have been seriously surprised if they would let anyone get hands on the US S3 prior to their pre-planned press event where they specifically want tech reviewers and press folks to swoon over the new device and re-build hype. I seriously doubt they (Samsung) would allow early shipments so that their big (and expensive) press event can be overshadowed by hundreds of youtube unboxing videos and informal reviews by people in their bedrooms.

Even given all of the "on or before" hype...my humble opinion is that today is the absolute earliest we could have ever expected shipping to begin. If they ship via 2-day FedEx, then that would put the phone in people's hands on the 21st, and a day after the press event on the 20th. I'll be watching today...but it's definitely the earliest I would have ever expected so see any action.

2. Some folks seem to be holding AT&T to the 21st arrival date. I believe that is a real possibility...but please don't forget that that is an estimate and subject to change. There is no repercussion to them if they don't meet that deadline. In fact, my email confirmation said the following:

"Your Samsung Galaxy S? III has been reserved and is expected to arrive on or before 06/21/2012."

The key word here is "expected". They expect to ship them so it will arrive on or before the 21st...but the reality is that things change. We have to be patient. I think most people read that as it is "guaranteed" to arrive on or before the 21st. With that said...I don't believe we will all be screwed and wish we waited to buy in store. I predict we will see arrivals around the same time (or before) they are available in store. And the best part...you didn't have to wait in line or fight the crowds. You should be happy you pre-ordered. : )

I see this buzz with every big tech release I participate in...historically it has been iPhones for me, so I am glad the same takes place for Android phones. I can't wait!

Sorry guys, but this reminds me so much of the kids when we get in the car to go on a trip. 15 minutes later, its "daddy, are we there yet?" and that question continues every few minutes for the duration of the trip.

So its ONLY the second time you called yesterday? I'm sure there are those in this thread who have called more, for sure, but why is everyone calling repeatedly?

Take a chill pill, folks! Do none of you have a life? My confirmation email says "on or before the 21st" too, but I didn't call them once yesterday. Read this thread once yesterday afternoon, and catching up again this morning. Calling AT&T every half hour will NOT make your phone arrive any faster. I feel for these poor AT&T reps - just like me answering the kids, "no, we're not there yet" over and over and over again.

reading is obviously not your strong suit, the only reason i called twice yesterday was because of the lack of customer service the first time i called by the guy not even helping me and then hanging up on me.

When they say they dont know when it will ship once its already been stated that the phone will be delivered on or before the 21st it makes you wonder why did i preorder when now they say it will be available in store on the 21st but they have no clue when it might ship.

Hopefully they start shipping today.

got it on ebay from a seller in hong kong and had expidited shipping it is the Official samsung flip case. give me a few minutes and i will post a link.

I do think it's odd that no one has heard anything yet. I don't see any mention of GS3 shipping anywhere on the internet. However, I won't get officially pissed unless I've heard nothing from ATT by tomorrow. If they maintained the "delivered on or before the 21st" as they originally said when I preordered on day one at 6am only to wait until delivery day to say it's not coming, I'll be pretty hot. But until then, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming it will still arrive as promised.
The latest I get when I ask in a chat session is this:
We have sold out of the device and are waiting for additional inventory. Unfortunately, we do not have an anticipated delivery date as inventory levels vary from day-to-day. You will receive an e-mail from us when your item has shipped.
Of course this is probably their standard reply now after getting bombarded. At least I hope so and it doesn't apply to "first come first serve" as they stated...

Samsung is selling it directly for $40 but it's on backorder. Best buy sells the same case for the note for $30 so I'm sure they will also sell them when the phone comes out.
