    Default Noob question.

Currently on AT&T with blackberry and unlimited data. Since my new AT&T S3 is going to force a data plan change I need to know if wi-fi kicks in by default over LTE when both are available. Never needed to notice with bberry. Hopefully a quick easy answer. Thanks in advance.

Unless you have it set to prompt you first an Android phone should always connect to a known WiFi network if it's available and WiFi is turned on. It will use that WiFi network over any available cellular connection.

Yes, existing customers can grandfather the plan they currently have to the new contract. I checked on this months ago, and am sure it hasn't changed.

So are you guys saying that an Android phone by default has WiFi running in the background? That doesn't seem right. Having played with the Skyrocket running GB, the bar at the top gives the ability to turn on/off WiFi, Airplane, Bluetooth, etc.

When I went from Flash WP to Lumia 900 to One X my unlimited stayed with me. It still shows unlimited.

My One X will turn on WiFi automatic when I get home or at my folks house.

I have not turned on WiFi unless I needed it. Does the GS3 turn off the radio when detecting the wireless network and does the WiFi turn off in absence of a wireless network.

unless you actually change to a lower plan or tethering you will always have unlimited, all they do is change the terminology for the plan i.e. Blackberry unlimited plan will change to Smartphone unlimited plan.

If you have wifi turned on, but not in range of wifi, it will search for wifi in the background. If a known wifi network is in range it will connect automatically. If its not a known network it will show up in the notification bar that a wifi network is available. But if you turn off wifi it will not be searching in the background. I turn it off when I'm traveling, or if I know I won't be using wifi for a long period of time. Helps save battery.
