I get a error saying that the forwarding failed.. Anyone have any tips for getting voicemail working?

I got mine to work by using the instructions on voice.Google.com. You dial a number on your phone... Something like *004*5595551234# (where 5595551234 is your Google voice number) . After you do that you should be able to log in to your Google voice app.

you can go to
and in your settings click on Activate Voice Mail

it will give you some kind of code to type in on your phone as if you were dialing someone

I had the same issue setting up GV on my S3. I just went into the "forwarding options" in the phone settings and changes all 3 forwarding numbers to my GV number. Worked fine for me.

Had the same issue when I got my hox, had to go on the computer to set up properly. Tried and tried on my phone first but once I pulled out the laptop and set up through there all worked.
