K, I got it to work this morning! I powered my phone off and back on before connecting and that did the trick I guess.

I had the same problem. After 10mins or so, I clicked <cancel> and received "are you sure you want to stop this install" (or something similar). I clicked <no>, then it proceeded past the "hotfix" portion, and completed.

I also did that, but not with the intention of cutting it off before updating. Maybe that's why mine went so smoothly.

Firmware upgrade process screen says 100%. Phone stuck saying Downloading...Do not turn off target. Waited over 2 hours, no change. Disconnected and rebooted phone. Ran update again, same thing, computer screen says 100%, phone stuck saying Downloading...Do not turn off target! Stayed that way all night. Any ideas?

Funny the variety of problems folks are experiencing. I was advised of the JB update right away. Have tried 3X to install it. It goes out each time to download the firmware, but when it starts to install, Kies appears to close and I see NO activity on PC or phone!

Don't think you can use Air, you are gonna have to plug your phone into your computer.

You need to update Kies software on the Mac. I upgraded my phone via Kies running Mountain Lion effortlessly. Not sure why so many are having so many problems.

It won't update even Kies before I plug in my phone. Wish I was on your end of not having problems.

What version of OSX are you running? Before this update I didn't have Kies, nor truly understand what it was so I had to go to Samsungs website to download it. Make sure you have the current version of Java installed before you upgrade Kies. If it is not current you can't upgrade. Hope that helps, and good luck!

HOW FRUSTRATING! D/L and installed Kies, connected SIII, selected upgrade to JB, D/L "firmware upgrade components". Upgrade screen closes, then Kies closes. No other activity reported, and phone shows home screen the entire time. I was able to backup phone using Kies, but upgrade doesn't work!
Uninstalled/ reinstalled Kies- same as above. SMDH!!!

Finally, after about 5 hrs, got it! If I had to guess, server congestion was causing it all...

Any ideas if backing up and then doing a factory reset will make me lose all my app data? I didn't 3 star all those damn games only to lose it. I feel like a lot of these bugs and jitteryness will go away with a factory reset.

Okay I finally got it.. Turn off WiFi and use 4g. It worked perfect.

On a side note. In the browser, typing in Swype does not auto space. Swype is buggy and the browser is buggy.

Any other issues or bugs people are having?

Latest version of Kies for Mac(Lion) doesn't work. I'll wait for the OTA from AT&T.

I don't like that too much either, that was one of the changes I really liked with GB, the black notification bar.-

My notification bar is still black.

Don't forget, gang. There were like 30 Million of these phones sold. I don't know how many were on AT&T, but we could guess probably 5M to 10M units. That is a lot of people pinging the servers. You might encounter slow download times.

On the other hand, I'm very much looking forward to getting home tonight and updating.

I think you can still update, but it will remove your root

It will remove root if I'm not mistaken. Just re-root after updating. Just ensure to find a good guide for your phone.

Agree with smooth. Check by going to system settings > about device. Make sure it says 4.1 (see below post)
