I have a problem whereby the phone randomly reboots and upon rebooting comes up with a distorded screen.

What ROM are you running? Any recently installed apps before this started happening? Drop the device at all? Anything and everything can happen to an android device. See if you can't provide details so we can better assist you and get your device back to normal.
