Got my I Am Cardboard from Amazon yesterday.

Install the Cardboard app from Play Store.

First, the magnet set needs to be relocated to the opposite side for this phone. You can also simply flip the Cardboard viewer upside down and insert the phone in the opposite position relative to the diagram on the cardboard. The configuration in the Cardboard app which prompted me to scan the QR code on my I Am Cardboard to switch from default didn't ever seem to work.

The Exhibit, Windy Day, and Google Earth Demos in Cardboard app don't work on the S3. The Tutorial, Tour Guide, YouTube, and Photosphere demos all worked fine. You have to get the Google Camera app and create your own photospheres for Photosphere to load.

Apps that work (so far):
Lamper VR
DebrisDefrag for Cardboard
DiveCityCoaster
Stereogram

Even though there are limitations to the functionality on the S3, this is still totally cool and worth the $20-$30. Give it a try.
