    Default factory reset

forgive me if this has been asked already, But what exactly happens when I wipe data/factory reset from Clockworkmod? I've flashed quite a few roms, and have never done this.. I'm noticing the overall performance has degraded somewhat, and my GPS takes long (if ever) to lock in.. I'm currently running the latest version of CM7. Once I perform a wipe/reset, what am I left with? Will CM7 still be installed, or will it revert to another rom?

    Thanks..

First of all, it is recommended by every developer to do a full wipe when switching to a different ROM. That explains your performance issues. This is something you do when you're ready to flash a new ROM, because it wipes everything, ROM included. Everything on your SD card will remain intact, but once you've flashed your new ROM, you will need to sign in to your Google account to recover all your contacts, and reinstall all your apps.

    Thanks for the quick reply..

I'm confused about one thing though.. After the wipe/reset is complete, what os does the phone boot into? Or does it return me to the Clockwork mod menu, to reflash whatever rom from there?

And just to confirm, I won't lose root, correct?

You shouldnt loose root it should just bring it back to the ron with nothing else on it all SD saved items will remain on the SD but to be really sure do this to to titanium get a batch and back everything up then just simply flash a bother ron and wipe the dalvic and do a factory reset or better yet back up this Roman. Then wipe all the data and flash the older version of cm7 then reflash the. Current. And wipe everything just suggeztions

You don't reboot after wiping. If you wipe from recovery, it removes the ROM also. That's why you need to do it, so you have a clean install of your new ROM. Make sure the ROM you want to flash is on your SD, boot into recovery, do a full wipe, flash the ROM, then reboot.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the responses..

I Did the "Wipe data/Factory Rest" from ClockworkMod Recovery.. After it was done I was curious to see what would happen, so I rebooted and it took me back to CM7. It would appear that the rom does remain intact just with no settings/data, or apps.. I did the wipe/reset again, and re-installed CM7.. It is much faster, and smoother now..

    Thanks again..

Yes, wiping data will not delete the ROM. That is not a full wipe, but if it helped your phone run better, then that's the most important thing.

Yea there's 2 versions of a wipe people get confused but what I mentioned was it will wipe all apps and settings that's y I was suggesting a batch update so it saves the apps data and potential settings. I really read my post and saw oh hell I confused the hell out of you I shouldn't post things with 3 hours of sleep glad it worked thoe
