    Default Battery Life?

Looks terrible according to HTC. It says 1230 Battery and 360 minutes. ugh!

You need to go back and reread those specs. You're wrong.

Talk time is around 6 hours and standby time is around 372 hours. Your estimate in the op may be referring to talk time only, but that rating is not bad if it holds up under real world usage.

Id like to know if i could buy a 1500 mah battery that would still fit in the door, because i know you can get 1750 batteries for the DX, and it only comes with a 1500. Does anyone know if they already have them? Thanks!

Judging from my research, I can only find 1300 for the Desire HD. That might change when the Inspire is released next weekend. Plus, don't forget the VZW Thunderbolt is the same, save for the 4GLTE internals. I think its getting a 1400 battery, that might actually fit and work inside the Inspire. We will just have to wait and see what the aftermarket brings us after the Inspire's release next Sunday!

Nope it doesn't accommodate huge batteries. (See pic) The battery panel is too small for expansion.

Well i know that it cant litterally hold a bigger battery, but they can put more mah into the same sized battery such as in the droid x, he bought a 1750 mah and doesnt even have to replace his battery door

it is more than likely we will see some after market batteries that will fit the stock door but they will be about 1400-1500 at best and if they come from seidio that 1400 will have the same life as the oem 1230 battery. best bet is to buy an external charging device so you dont have to be near a plug.

When I got my Nexus one I was horrified at how bad the battery was. Then I went on Amazon and spent literally .01 cent (plus shipping and handeling of course) for a buch of micro usb chargers and put one in just about every location I stop moving. The house has about 3, my work has a few and of course one in the car. Now whenever I pull out my phone I stick it on a charger so I always have a full battery. (I know this is horrible for the battery, but batteries are cheaper than getting ticked off at the phone and throwing it out the car window when I can't make a call)

The point I am making is that when you have a phone that can do as much as an android phone and you are always playing with it you are going to chow the battery no matter how big it is. Modifying your behavior a little bit will save a lot of frustration. I will take this battery dilemma long before I would ever switch back to the dreaded iPhone.

Sounds good to me. Pretty cool considering he was using it as a hotspot and didn't need to put it on the charger unless he did and didn't state it in the review.

Just search for "desire hd extended battery" on ebay. There are 1600 mAh batteries that should work. That's how I got a 1500 mAh for my Aria (searched for hd mini extended battery). It's the one nice thing about the same form factors being released somewhere else in the world months earlier.

Just remember they redesigned the battery compartment on the Inspire.

No, they actually kept the same design on the battery compartment for the Desire HD. Besides, he was just giving an example by using the Aria. So far I have been able to find a 1300 for the Desire HD.

He wasn't suggesting it was. Some companies have offered higher capacity batteries in packages that are the same size as the original.

Exactly! I had found one from Mugen Power that is 1300 mAh in the same form factor as the original Desire HD battery which is 1230 mAh just like the Inspire's stock battery. I don't understand why he wanted to assume I was talking about those "bloated" batteries like are available for other devices. Of course those won't work and they aren't available for the Desire HD anyway.

If you are so concerned with battery life why not get the atrix and put a huge battery in it?

I'm not concerned about battery life. I'm just trying to help other ppl out. I mean, c'mon. I'll buy a dual core smartphone in 2 years when I'm done with the Inspire. Once the dual core tech is a little more proven. Not saying it ain't proven. However, by then there will be more dual core optimized apps on the market. I prefer HTC over Motorola anyway. Even though Moto is bad@ss in its own right. IMO, HTC and Motorola are both the leaders in smartphone hardware. I just prefer Sense over Blur.

Exactly. Dual Core is bleeding edge. There just isn't enough use for it now. I mean, 2.2 can't even effectively use the dual core set up. It uses one core for pre-determined processes and the other for a completely different set. It's not intelligent enough. 2.3 is another story, but applications aren't optimized for it yet, which really negates the usefulness of the technology. Give it a year or so and it will be the standard.

    Red face

It's bad but phone is good. Charging least once before bed a day. Either needs better battery or strong app to control and watch battery life/tasking....any app Ideas for 2.2??? Bigger battery available yet?

If it is the one that comes with a wall charger and costs about $9.00 with free shipping from Hong Kong:

or any similar to that, I would suggest that there is a high probability that they may or may not be 1500 and they may or may not work well and that they might be garbage.
