Live.com (Hotmail) Email & Calendar

I've been messing with my Inspire & trying to get 2 things accomplished -1) Live.com Calendar Sync & 2) Live.com email setup as an exchange server.

Is it true HTC has an issue with their native email app & hotmail/exchange sync? My account will verify however at the very end it gives me an error & say the account can't be setup, try back later.

Also, is there any reason I would have lost my new email notifications on the desktop icon?

Update - The notifications are now showing up.

This will not work with the HTC Mail app-it is a known issue and until if/when HTC provide an update, this will be the case. It will work with other email apps that support EAS.
