Screen won't turn on when not charging?

I just flashed CyanogenMatt and Jobans kernal through CWM, everythings working fine, however. I'm having 2 issues;

1. Whenever I restart the phone, ADW launcher is no longer the default launcher.

2. If the phone isn't plugged in, I can't wake the phone up. The backlight turns on, but no UI, when the charger is in, there is a bit of a delay, but the UI does appear.

EDIT: Just tried waking the phone up again, and was able to get a UI without the charger, but there was even more of a delay. Tried it again after, and had the no UI issue.

Does anyone have an idea on what to do to fix this?

The delay is an issue for all the ROMs we all have to suffer with it, thus why we are trying to get a custom ROM. As to the ADW just install the launcher of your choice.
