Updating rooted phoenix (froyo) to official gingerbread

Hello,

I am dusting off my LG Phoenix for my girlfriend since her blackberry is starting to die. However, the LG Phoenix is running Froyo and rooted. I saw this as a good chance for her to play around on Android so that when her upgrade comes in 4 months, she can upgrade to an android phone. I don't really want to load CM7 or any other custom rom as I would like to show her the stock rom (if she gets an android phone with her upgrade she has no interest in rooting and loading a custom rom.)

Because the phone is currently rooted, is there going to be a problem when I use LG's official update tool? And will I lose the root?

I guess loosing the root isn't that big a deal since I can just run gingerbreak again... but I don't really want to screw something up and end up bricking the phone.

Also... I'm did dig around briefly to see if I could find the answer... but I am at work so I did it briefly.

No problem at all... You can proceed to update from 2.2.1 to 2.3.4!!!

It doesn't matter... You can ROOT it again (SuperOneClick)!!!

You will absolutely loose the root but SuperOneClick is easy enough ... look for my thread on Rooting I detail the process.
