Is anybody getting thru a full day? Mine only lasts through the afternoon.

Thanks! It helps a little. Honestly I'll be curious to see how this thing performs when I'm not using it 12 hours a day straight. Always the way with new toys!

Before I shipped mine off for the Round Robin, I was lucky to get around 20 hours total, including my 5-6 hours of sleep. Rene is starting the Round Robin with the G1 and he's told me he's gotten a little better...

After about 4-5 hours of heavy texting today I needed a recharge. Compared to entire days like that on the blackberry it's horrendous and seeing as I only have 2G networks since I'm on AT&T that has no bearing in my case. To be fair I was also showing off the phone to everyone and didn't poperly charge it the night before as I was testing the stand-by battery life over night. Based on that I think used sparingly yhe battery might start to last a full day after the "ooooo ooooo I got a new toy" effect dieter mentioned wears off

Pushing email, browsing the internet, and running the GPS with maps doesn't allow me to go a full day. I charge the G1 in the car when possible and I got a second battery for those times when charging is inconvenient. I would place the marginal battery life second on my list of G1 shortcomings behind the small built-in memory.

try turning the data sync with gmail etc off and just refresh it when you need it, i'm currently roaming without a data plan and battery life is much improved (almost as advertised).
i'm on 70% today after using wifi, gps etc for about 7 hours, yesterday i was on around 50% after 12 hours of fairly heavy wifi, gps + Google maps use with an hour of mp3 listening thrown in. - 12-30-2008, 01:43 PM #13

Battery usage
I wrote an application for my G1 to upload battery usage information to my server and graph it with RRD. See - https:// secure.grepular.com/blog/index.php/2009/03/30/google-phone-battery-usage-graphing/ for hourly, daily and weekly graphs. They're not static, they're updated once every 15 minutes. I don't have bluetooth or wifi turned on.

I've noticed that since my phone ran out of juice last week and switched itself off, then I charged it while the phone was still off (only switching it back on in the morning) that the battery has seemed to be lasting much longer - I'll get to the end of the day with over a quarter charge left, whereas it used to be running on empty.

The terrible battery lifetime is because the alway's online philosophy of android. if you turn off your data connection it uses a lot less energy. so i wrote an app ("Data on Demand) that just turns on the data connection when the display is on (not in standby). this way your battery will last a lot longer! maybe you want to give it a try ....

I got my first short-on-memory message about 2 weeks into using the G1. Now, I am careful about what I download from the Market and what I leave installed. There are 94 apps in my side tab and only 21MB left in memory.
