Gingerbread sleep animation?

I manually updated my T-Mobile G2 with the 2.3.4 OTA file with no issues or factory resets.

However, I do not get that nifty CRT animation when putting the phone to sleep. Googling only finds this question being asked a lot, but no definitive answers other than booredatwork on youtube briefly saying that it does that (but his video does not show it).

Does anyone else actually have this feature from the OTA or even the retail store sdcard update? I mean, either this feature is included or it's not, right? Is there any reason why it would be disabled?

For anyone who doesn't know what I'm referring to:

Is there any particular reason Gingerbread enabled G2's don't do that? Does anyone have a G2 that does?

I'm running CyanogenMod 7.1 and it has the CRT animations. I heard that this was left out of the "official" leak, but I'm unclear whether it's in the final 2.3.4 update... I would highly recommend downgrading and rooting. Check XDA for the guide.
