I'm having a flame battle with a G2 owner. He claims that he bought the phone one year ago today and it was a unable to be updated one month after he bought it. From what I'm reading, it was released in September of 2010.
I'm not trusting this guy because he's said several things wrong on Android already, like the Android platform is never updated and T-Mobile is blocking most of the apps on Google Play.

I think I saw info that said the G2 was released in October of 2010, but I definitely could be wrong. I bought a used G2 off Ebay last month and it had been upgraded to Gingerbread 2.3.4, which is fine by me. I don't use many apps, so don't know if or which ones TMobile would be blocking.

I got my G2 on pre-order and got it at the end of September 2010. About a week before it's October release date.

I don't know of any blocked apps on Google Play.

I got mine in early Oct, 2010, but rooted and rom'ed within 24 hours. I didn't even look at the stock interface, so no clue on apps being restricted. I know my wifes mt4s doesn't have any app restrictions on Google Play.

Its official release date was October 6, 2010, but I received my G2 in late September - I'm pretty sure it was September 28th (it was a pre-order). Also, I think it hit T-Mo stores on October 3rd.
