So I've been holding off on the G2 pretty much solely because of the poor signal strength complaints. I've done a comparison with people and the signal is definitely not as stong as my G1. So a big thanks to anyone who comes on here and comments about whether this OTA update improves that!

I upgraded from a G1 and the G2 has better signal strength and call quality than my G1. I haven't gotten any of the signal issues that have been talked about and my hinges are solid. This all pre-OTA too, gonna manually download that ish right now.
One gripe I do have though, is that the physical keyboard is becoming more and more unnecessary and after a month I haven't gotten used to it yet. If the G1 keyboard was a 10, this keyboard is like a 5 or 6. - 11-03-2010, 03:18 PM #6

I haven't either and I hate having to do them manually.

I was going to wait until it got to me too, but here it is Tuesday and still no ota (In Tampa). Decided to just update manually, love the wifi calling and hotspot. Will test out the improved radio today.

@abe Here are the instructions. Its easy, but I remember with my Nexus, when we did the update to froyo, there were various subsequent versions floating around and you had to do the updates in sequence or things could get sort of messed up. I got some of the OTAs and had to do some manually. It was just a hassle. To this day I don't understand why updates to occur for everyone generally at the same time like with Sprint and the EVO. I'm probably going to break down and do it manually this evening.

Did the OTA Help?
Still very curious as to how well this helps out with the signal issues...
What do you current owners think? My contract is up in Jan - upgrade my G1 to the G2 now or hold off for something better on TMo / the chance to switch carriers? - 11-09-2010, 12:54 PM

had to manually push to my wifes g2 after mine got it (ok so didn't "have to", but was to impatient). like the new features, as they were the only issue i had with the g2 over the mytouch 4. am having issues with the usb tethering as my Win7 x64 doesn't recognize the phone fully. anyone know where to get the driver from an "official" source?

I just got my G2 yesterday and I received the OTA immediately. I have a better signal than any other phone in the family, even my olf G1. I think they nailed it.

You will get used to it. I also upgraded from a G1 so I know there seems to be a bit of a learning curve. For me it was having to hit the "ALT" key to enter in numbers and I kept hitting "Enter" when I was used to it being the "Delete" btn! Argh!

I pre-ordered mine in late September and got mine the fiirst week in October if I rememebr correctly. So I have had time to adjust, I believe I can honestly say that I have the new keyboard down 100%... Just keep that thumb on the "ALT" key!

Happy Wednesday!
I got my OTA update this morning on my way to work. I need to do some research though to see what improvements and/or changes have been made with this update. If anybody has a link or some info, I would appreciate that.
After my phone rebooted it stated that the new current version is 1.22.531.8. I will have to look into that as well.
