I recieved a device from LG to try out and it def has reception issues.. I have yet to see it show 3g.. I go from 4g to 2g all day while my Nexus S just shows 3G and massive data dropouts etc.. Tmo def needs to address this as its ruining a great device.

I have yet to see 3G on mine either now that you mention it.
I really want to keep this phone but I have got to have a phone that works
at my workplace.
This one doesnt seem to want to do that.
The Mytouch 4G and the Sammysung Galaxy S 4G get not great, but "good enough"
reception at work, but this new handy dandy dual core $500.00 phone that didnt
come with any memory stick gets little to no reception at work.

:(

BMX it might be an option for you but some people that got an exchange are reporting no problems with the new device. I'm hoping a quick bug fix update makes it's way out, too.

@going_home: did you try exchanging it to see if the new device has the same issues?

very sad to see "exchange it" being suggested for a new phone. i very much wanted this phone.

i had the atrix, it has tons of issues, and tons of "exchange it" suggestions. after reading the complaint threads as they have evolved, i felt the issue is a rushed to market phone with poor quality control of components.

i hope this lg does not become another phone with hardware issues that will never be fixed with software workarounds.

i'll keep watching and reading to see how this evolves, as i'm hoping for the best.

I went to the company store where I bought it today and asked if they had heard
of any bad reception issues and they had not, or battery issues either.
My battery does just fine on mine.

I would have exchanged it but didnt bring the box etc with me today.
I will exchange it tomorrow and see if that helps.
I hope so because the phone is the snappiest I've ever used, very fast.
Incredible game graphics.

But I'm not letting my 14 day buyers remorse period pass.
If the exchange doesnt fix it, its back to the MyTouch 4g
till the HTC Sensation arrives.
(the Sammysung Galaxy 4G is back on Craigslist, could have been a very nice device
if it had some internal memory)

Ok I officially tested the MyTouch 4G at work today again
versus the G2X.
The MyTouch 4G internet was nicely fast as it has been in the past.

I am in sales and travel a lot but when I'm going to be in the office
for more than an hour I grab the laptop and turn on the wifi hotspot.

I have had horrible to zero internet with the G2X in the office.
It worked fine with the MyTouch 4G.

I've either tethered or wifi hotspotted with:
G1, Mytouch, Nexus One, G2, Nexus S, Mytouch 4G, Galaxy S 4G
and had no problems.

Until the G2X.

I took it back and exchanged the G2X today.
The rep said they just got a new batch in so maybe this will be
what the doctor ordered.

I'll check it tomorrow and see if its any better.
I'm hoping so because the phone is the snappiest I've ever used.

;)

I actually just sent my unit back... gave my opinions on the device to the LG rep and hopefully they will issue a update to correct the affected devices. Its an amazing device but too many nagging issues off the bat will hurt launch excitement.

Was your service any better with the new phone? I am having the same issues but I am new to Tmobile from Sprint so I am still learning the service area around here.

I didnt get a chance to check it Friday.
Going to make a point of it sometime Monday.

The wifi connection from the MyTouch 4G to my laptop is snappy as heck at my workplace.

So as much as I like the G2X and as much as I'd like to keep it,
its going back for a refund if this second phone doesnt do any better.

I will just have to wait till June for the HTC Sensation I guess.
I'll post up what happens monday or tuesday.

No issues on mine, and I should note that with past HSPA+ devices (MT4G) and regular HSPA devices (nexus S), T-mobile's signal would drop frequently in my house. So far the G2x hasn't.

I can't even surf the web over 2g. I haven't seen 3g but get 4g in most places. Anyone else having data issues over 2g? Text and voice is fine, just data.

I finally tested the 2nd G2X at my workplace location today.
Same result as the first one.
Pathetic as a wifi hotspot, very poor to zero data.
While the MyTouch 4G worked great in the same metal building.

So yep the G2X went back for a refund and I'm down to one phone.
Sad day because that is one sweet phone.

I am close to returning mine. I don't want to at all. I couldn't pass data over 2g. I'll find out if that is fixed. But now I have no data package. I have called 4 times and they can't get it right. I want 2 lines shared minutes with unlimited text and data. One line lost data a few days ago now the second line dropped it.. wtf...
