G2X GPS location problems
Just got this phone and having problems with the GPS part of it.
my G2 has no problems finding my location using Google Maps or the Car Home Hav. app.
It seems I have to have the "Use wireless networks" and "Use GPS satellites" on to find my location. my G2 can find it with only the "use GPS Satellites" clicked on
anyone else having this issue?
It always says location unavailable turn the "use wireless networks: it finds it
Wife bought the same phone does the same thing.
called T-mobile was told to replace it. Called the store I got the phone at. they did this check on the live demo and one other same thing
he did the same check on his G2 works fine,
anyone else? - 04-21-2011, 09:32 PM #2
I just got my G2x too and I'm having the same issue. I remember reading that the original phone (the Optimus 2) only had A-GPS and did not have GPS. In the T-Mobile version, there was supposed to be both GPS and A-GPS. I really hope that we didn't get just A-GPS cause that means we only have GPS via cell towers and NOT without.
I'll be checking around and keep you posted if I find out anything. Hopefully this is just a glitch.

GPS
The G2x does have full GPS capability. If you're not seeing anything, check that the GPS receiver is turned on. On the Power Control widget, it's the middle one of the 5 keys (the one with the antenna aimed at a 45 degree angle).
The free app GPS Status will show how many satellites and give an indication of strength.
Just now standing outside with nothing in the way I showed lock on 10, which is way more than enough for an accurate fix. GPS reception can be tough in the midst of buildings, trees, etc., and in a car you need to have it under the windshield, esp when it is first trying to lock on.
Hope that helps. - 06-19-2011, 02:17 PM #5
