Default How do I back up my contacts?

How do i back up my contacts? I was thinking about getting a Galaxy Note 3 and the thing i hate about Android is that they don't have proprietary PC software to help with transferring data when getting a new Android device like Blackberry of iPhones do.

Anyone know how i can back up my contacts? I added new ones since getting my Note 2, so not sure if they will port over to Note 3.

You can sync your contacts with Google and it should automatically populate on your new phone.

You can also export contacts to the sd card and bring it over to the new phone and import it

Where did you enter the new contacts? As mentioned above, if they were entered into your Google account, they will sync to the cloud, and across all of the devices signed into that account. Easy!

Here a guide that might help. [GUIDE] Getting Started with Android (2014), Part III: Managing Contacts

So i don't need to click anything or do anything in the settings to automatically save in the cloud?

I just want to have all my bases covered. I noticed next to all my contacts on the right side, there is a G mark. I am assuming that is saved in the cloud. However, i also saw one contact saved to my sim card, so i wanted to know how to add that to the cloud. Can someone give me detailed instructions? I am not that tech savvy.

As long as you have your Contacts set to auto-sync in the main Settings menu, it will always backup to your Google account in the cloud.

I assume you're talking about your Note 2, right? I don't know how different that phone's People app is from the one that is on my Nexus 5, but see if you can follow these steps (wording might be different:

    1. On the main screen of the People app, tap Menu
    2. Select "Contacts to Display," and if possible, choose "SIM" or "Phone account."
    3. Tap Menu again, then Import/Export, then Export to Storage.
    4. Once that is done, tap Menu again, then Import/Export, then Import from Storage. Make sure to specify to import into your Google account.

I've actually never done this process myself, so one thing I can't be sure of is if you can export your SIM contacts only, or if will export your entire contact list (including the Google contacts). If it exports the entire contact list, and then you import it, it's possible you might end up with duplicates.

There are probably other ways to do this, including using 3rd party apps--I'll let others chime in about that.

If it is just one contact, you can long press the name and select share via email. Then save the vcf file to the phone and import it into the Google account.
