Please help. I've tried all of the things suggested here. My problem is that my phone will not connect to any wifi unless I am standing close to the router - as soon as I move away it loses the signal completely. All other devices, iPad, laptop etc. connect fine. I've spent a few days shouting at Virgin Broadband as I thought it was the new broadband I've just had installed, but came into the office today and had the same problem. Something else I should tell you - I did not have this issue until I for my phone back from the repair shop with a new screen! Any help/advice would be much appreciated!
im having the same problem i did some research and i believe it could be a problem with the antenna when the guy disconnected the screen to replace it. he probable didnt connect the antenna correctly

    Problem Solved.
My Phone & my partners phones are both identical Galaxy S3's Hers connects with 5 bars when 10 foot from the router. Mine connects with 1 to 2 bars at the same range.
After removing the rear cover of my phone I proceeded to remove the black plastic motherboard cover (approx. 10 screws. Please google process to avoid damage). The motherboard cover contains the wifi antenna.

Note:The antenna is a piece of flexible copper on the back of some black PVC tape with the contact pushed through a slot and folded into a receptacle on the inside of the cover.

I then held the battery in position by hand and switched on the phone. Signal strength was again observed to be as weak as before but not any weaker! "ah ha" I thought, "If the antenna makes no difference, it cannot be connected, when the motherboard cover is screwed back in place".

I inspected the tape antenna stuck to the motherboard cover and found it to be a little out of alignment. A small hole punched into the tape didn't quite line up with the plastic dimple on the inside of the cover plastic. I proceeded to completely peeled the tape antenna off of the back of the cover and after pulling a little on the exposed metal connector to unstick a little more copper off of the tape. I re-seated the antenna so that the exposed metallic side of the antenna was seemingly better lined up with the metal spring contact on the motherboard. I also ensure that the teeny little dimple did in fact poke through the small hole at the end of the tape.

When the cover was replaced. Voila! the signal strength was excellent. I didn't even need to use the power saving mode suggested by all other newsgroups. It was just a simple electrical connection fault. 5 Bars all over the house except for the Laundry where the phone achieved 4 bars.

I am having same problem with my S3. I understood the location of the antenna on black cover, but want to know the procedure what you did. If possible, please upload the video/share link of the video.

    Thanks

I want to personally thank you so much. For 3 days after receiving a new modem I couldn't keep a signal at hm. Called my providers no help, then Samsung.... another brick wall that would cost me 70 + $ if I chose to send it in for repair or updates. Seeing I wasn't willing to pay them anymore for what I could in turn find the solution online. I tried everything an nothing seemed to help till your post. Tytytytytytyty!!!!!! As soon as I hit save I've had full signal strength an no drops. An all It took was a bunch of numbers actually a dot that had everything a mess. Wonderful help.

When I did this, I couldn't 'save' the information, when in the 'settings' in WiFi! I know I've tried this before and it seemed to work, this time not so much!
