trying to take 2nd call (call waiting) causes phone to freeze

If I'm on phone with caller A, and get another call from caller B, phone asks if I want to take second call and hang up caller A or put caller B on hold. If I choose either option, the phone freezes, I cannot "end call" and must re-boot.
what am I doing wrong?

Looks like something might be running that's causing the dialer to crash. Are you rooted or ROM'd? I'm sure you've got your phone nice and customized the way you want but it may be worth doing a backup and then a factory reset if all else fails. This is the first I've heard of this issue.

No I am not rooted and I don't know what ROM is so I would guess not.
