Charging with standard usb?

hey I have a question. Can I charge my HTC Amaze with the standard USB cable? It seems to work but I'm not sure if it's charging as fast.

Yes you can but it will not charge as fast. It's really more of a trickle charge. This is because a standard USB port can only push 5W.

So I actually thought to look at the charger, 1 amp. Duh, I should have realized!

Will my 2 amp tablet charger work faster, fry it, or step down to 1 amp?

Using a higher amperage charger will just charger it faster, wont hurt it. The phone has power regulation to keep it from being overloaded or charged too much. Once the phone reaches full charge it will reduce the incoming charge to a trickle.

I actually use my old Hero's charger (using the Amaze's USB cord of course) and it charges faster lol.
