Skype with video calling

Apparently the Evo 3D version works on Sensation as well. I was able to make and receive video calls. You can get the apk in the link posted in these thread. Props to BigRick10.

Have you used Tango and can you give us a performance comparison between the two?

I haven't use Tango, so sorry, maybe somebody else can help you with that.

OK, well so far after a few days of Skype usage to compare, Tango is better. The Skype user interface is MUCH better but Tango wins based on much better connectivity quality. Skype on a video call starts out ok then freezes up, then often the screen goes to black with no video at all.

One + for Skype, though: video calling to PC and Mac. You can't do that with Tango.

Just installed and tried it, I can confirm that skype video calling works well on the HTC Sensation.

Hmmm, do you mean that your Skype is working well using the PC... or that it also works well using phone to phone danperde?

I have not had success in getting Skype to continuously work. If all of you are getting it to work smoothly and reliably I am considering that the Tango app that I have installed might be interfering with the Skype install?

Awesome, thank you. The other version would hung at front-back camera swap, once in a while. This version works good.

I haven't had the chance to test it phone-to-phone. I'm using it on my Sensation to call my folks on computer. My wife has a myTouch 4G and the Skype version for that phone does not allow video chat. But her voice chat works well, usually no drop outs.

does the official skype app do video calling on the mytouch 4g? trying to find a cheap smartphone for my mom since it's a big PITA to try to figure out why it's not working on her laptop

No, skype video calling is not working yet on MT4G.

i'll probably have her wait for the sensation to go on sale before the new HTC something comes out later this year or maybe there will be a cheap iphone next month on t-mobile
