    Default Battery Life

What are you guys getting on average? I send/receive about 200-300 texts a day, talk maybe 1 hour a day and use about 1-2 hours of internet, with youtube and all that good stuff, and average about 6-7 hours battery life. Now, i know thats not AMAZING, but better compared to the 4 hour life i had on the Thunderbolt. Just curious.

That's about what I'm seeing and it is far below what was advertised. I would like to see about 12-18+ hrs of normal use at least.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to determine what is draining the battery?

I am off charger from 7 am to 10 pm and usually end up at about 30-40% remaining. Your battery life varies greatly depending on:
-how much/often your phone is set up to sync different accounts (facebook, twitter, etc)
-widgets on your home screens (they also update)
-how much your screen is on (this eats up most of the battery)

If you are curious on what exactly is using the most battery go to settings>about phone>battery>battery use. There you can find what is using the most of your battery.

Additionaly if you click the graph on that screen it will break down how often your screen was on as well as signal strength, etc

I'm getting a full days worth of life out of mine. Haven't had a time where I had to charge it in the middle of the day yet

I wasn't getting good battery life so I ordered an extended battery from Chichitech for $18. Their batteries have a good reputation and the people on XDA who have it have given it good reviews. There's another extended battery by Anker for less which has also gotten good reviews. I think you guys should check them out.

extended? what mah rating? Im a bit leary on factory size "extended batteries". Id be curious to hear real life results. During the work week I get great life, obviously I cant use the phone a whole lot while working (mon-friday 7am-4pm), so I get 12 hr avg battery life. But on the weekends I get 1/2 awake day at best wich is fine. Im looking to either get another factory Sensation battery or better to suppliment the days I hit the Sensation hard....

They are both 1900mAh. I just got mine today so I can't really comment, but the general feel on XDA is that they have extended the battery life by a good amount. Here's an example.

Yesterday I had it off the charger for about 14 hours of the heaviest use I've put the phone through since I got it, including:
~4 straight hours of streaming radio (over WiFi)
    ~2 hours of playing music
~1 hour of 4G surfing in an Ikea warehouse with, at most, 2 bars of signal
~30 minutes of Skype videochat (over WiFi)
-Tons of Google Maps while running errands in an unfamiliar part of the city (no Navigation though)
    -Default Auto-Brightness

Today, my usage has been much, much lighter. After 8 hours off the charger, I'm still showing 76% on my battery. Pretty awesome if you ask me.

Don't know if this is useful for anyone else out there, but hopefully people are seeing similarly dramatic improvements in longevity with their Anker batteries.

There is a thread here in this forum where a Sensation owner purchased an EVO3D battery and he has pictures as well as a battery application that shows the gain using the new battery. It should be on the 1st or 2nd page, check it out.

EDIT: Link Confirmed EVO 3D battery is same size.

I am getting ready to buy one of the ChiChiTec extended 1930 mAh batteries for the HTC EVO 3D to use in my Sensation 4G from (). One of the earlier posts quoted a review of this battery from the XDA forums that said "After using Battery Monitor to override the max battery capacity setting from 1530mAh to 1900 mAh, I've been noticing significant longevity gains compared to the stock HTC battery."

Does that mean that I have to purchase the Battery Monitor app to "override the max battery capacity setting" in order to use this new extended battery on my phone?

Well, after some thinking i went for the Chichitec 1900mAh battery too... from what understand the sensation battery is a 3.7 where the Evo 3D is a 3.8, which shouldnt cause any issues, but i personally dont want to over power the phone. The chichitec has gotten better reviews then the anker one, and people seem to be getting more battery life from the 1900 mAh chichitec then the 1900 mAh anker.

No, you don't. He overrode it to get an accurate measurement of the battery and how much power is being used.

Edit: There's a free version of the app, too.

Just went to the site that I listed above to double check. Both are 3.7V DC batteries. It's only 30mAh difference, so I don't think that there is much difference between the two batteries but they are the same voltage. You had me scared there for a second. Thanks for the replies guys! Good luck getting enough battery life out of these.

I doubt the extra .1 volt would matter anyway. It charges at +/- 4.2 volts.

I have had the ChiChiTec 1900mAH Evo3D battery in my Sensation for about 3 days now and can attest to its great life. Today being the first "work" day, it came off the charger full about 8am this morning and just about 1030pm I finally got a 10% left warning. That is with very heavy use of about 3hours of voices calls and 50 or so emails and many SMS sent and received along with some casual browsing. My stock battery was typically spent by mid-late afternoon so getting a good increase in battery life with this product. On the weekend with less use I got 12 hours with 40-50% still remaining...

Ive been researching the Chichitec battery at XDA as well & am glad to see the same results here to confirm them. I occasionally use my car charger on the ride home from work & somtimes charge off my laptop depending on what Im doing in the evening during the work week. If I can get a full day with the Chichitec w/o the need for an additional battery I"ll be very satisfied. I do hit the phone hard on the weekends using it as a scource for entertainment (music/youtube) in the bar room....Im placing the order now...thanx for the input folks!

I have done a bit more investigating and have noticed that 'Cell Standby' is often a heavy percentage of my battery usage.

After digging in a bit more into what exactly and why 'Cell Stanby' would drain so much power, I found that it has to do with the phone's connection to the T-Mobile network. In my house I get terrible T-Mobile coverage and noticed that time without signal often approaches 50%. There is a note on the screen that says to "Switch to Airplane mode to save power in areas with no cell coverage.

So that means that the phone is working hard to get a connection with T-Mobile and using lots of antenna time to do so. This also explains why my battery drops like a rock over night with no use whatsoever.

I'm going to complain to T-Mobile about the poor coverage. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

How are these Evo batteries different than the HTC Sensation batteries offered lower down on the page...

    Nevermind...
    1900 vs 1930mAh.

    A few questions about this...

    1) Is this battery just a battery, or is it a case as well? I mean, does it fit inside the Sensation just as the stock battery does, or does it make it bulkier?

    2) Can you use the original sensation charger?

    3) Where is the best place to purchase?

    Thanks!

    1. It's just the battery. It fits fine. It's a little thicker, but you won't notice at all.

    2. Yes.

    3. From here.

Be sure to use the "OFF10" code at check out, you save 20%.

I got my Chichitec battery couple days ago. I received it at 50% charge, charged it up to 100%. after 20 hours, it was barley at 25%... which is AMAZING because on stock battery, after 6 hours i was on 25%. I dropped my phone [i had a mild heart attack], battery came out and when i put back it it went from 20% to 45% and lasted that charge too. I dont know what happened, but im not complaining. great investment to be honest.
