Not a coincidence this is being announced right before Nexus S launch.

Interesting. Still going to buy the Nexus though. Buying what's the best right now is good enough for me.

LG is enough of a reason for me to not care about this phone.

+2 on that, i had my own misplaced doubts about LG then i got the optimus s
for the heck of it since i had an upgrade i figured heck i'll send for it see what
LG's all about and i'll send it back before my 30 days are up... But then i no longer
want to send it back, shoot i have all but forgotten my htc hero. Trust me
LG is up to something big with android. The optimus s is a low end (noob android
entry level phone) Yet it outperforms any other android phone in its category
and makes other "high end" handsets look kinda slow. But its a low level free
phone.... So i wonder how will the Tegra2 dual core Optimus2x monster be
(from LG
)

For me, I have owned LG devices (non android) and they were all junk. I have also had a LG microwave and LG refrigerator take a dump on me so I am soured on their brand

I had a 2 week old LG LCD tv and the picture blew out on it and the only thing I got when turned on was audio.

Nexus S is better because it isn't a device full of empty promises. It has so many customizations that we really should not care, Nexus S will get the next Google update, we don't know if LG will jump ship after the 8 months it will take em to give this thing Gingerbread. They could make another device and completely not care about this one.
