Laggy web browser?
Hey guys, using my Nexus S I have seen pretty slow and jerky performance on the web browser, I saw Phil refresh Androidcentral, and while it was still rendering it scrolled smoothly. Not the case for my Nexus S, while it renders scrolling is very slow and jerky, and even when it is done it is still very slow, I do have adobe flash but that is on on demand(I enable it when I talk the flash content). So anyone else notice this slow performance in the browser? Could it be the Nexus S or gingerbread?

I saw Phil use his Nexus one with Gingerbread, it was relatively smooth.

Problem resolved, the Phil's Nexus One didn't lag is because he either didn't have Flash or it was on demand, I also heard that flash hasn't been optimized ffor the hummingbird CPU,
so when I put it on demand, it preps every piece of flash on the site, making the browser lag. I simply turn flash off and it is no longer laggy.

Yeah its an issue with the hummingbird CPU and the browser being optimized for snapdragon CPU but not hummingbird CPU combo. It will have to be updated cause there's definitely a problem on certain web pages at the moment. The nexus one actually is smoother on some pages because of it currently. It will be fixed.

I am surprised Google didn't optimize it in Gingerbread... its a dev device, it should perform well in most of the UI... can't wait until it is though, going to be so great.

I've had no issues with mine at this point and am perfectly happy with it. Also like to add that I had heard alot of feedback indicating that the handset felt "cheap" - I'll have to disagree; feels just right to me...wish Samsung would have made it more "grippy", but a nice case will take care of that.

I love this phone and I think it is awesome! It is super fast and no lag for me. But you have to understand I am coming from a HTC Hero, super slow.

There are slews of threads at XDA Forum which highlight many issues (way more than 5). Just off the top of my head: laggy browser, issues with capacity buttons, issue with touchscreen response, issues with white colors, MMS issues, dust collecting on the sides of the screen, unaligned screens, issues with Market place, slow email syncs, and some with dreaded GPS issues. A mere glance at the XDA Forums will show there are many others.
There are plenty of issues going around. However, no product launches perfect. - 12-21-2010, 08:10 AM #16

Android browser has a weird way of loading the page
lets you use the page when it is not fully loaded
And flash causes lag
