ThundeROM for Optimus T?

So, I took a peek into the Optimus S forums and noticed that Beezy and KSmithInNY had created a custom ROM. Is there any chance of a port to the Optimus T? I will gladly be the test monkey for it and report back. Fair warning though, I'm a complete noob with regards to Android. If I'm being greedy or out of line, please put me in my place. I'm just a little jealous :o

I think they have everything they need for the ROM. The problem is that the T doesn't have a working recovery yet. That's the hold up.

What exactly do we need? I know we need an AOSP kernel. Which I guess we need the source, correct? Has ANYONE overclocked their processor yet?

I don't take anything you said as greedy or out of line.As stated below we need a recovery for you guys to be able to flash a custom rom.

You don't need a AOSP kernel you need a recovery to be able to flash a rom or kernel.

We don't need source to build a ROM. You need source to modify a kernel. Considering we could just leave the stock kernel in .... we don't need source at all. We need a vehicle to get the ROM onto your phone once we make it. The stock recovery will only flash something signed by LG, and we're not LG, that translates into = you need a custom recovery.

Someone is working on it but i think other people need to test it out because the guy working on making the recovery doesn't have this phone so he cannot do any testing. Neither Beezy nor I have this phone either so we cannot assist. This is going to have to be something the Optimus T clan does themselves, then once you have it we can whip up a ROM.

We're more than happy to ROM you guys up but focus on the recovery, the rest will come.

Let ThundeRom for T commence.

Please check md5 of 82deaeec44c9b6b7095efcfa31fee099 prior to flashing

See my recovery section in opt s Here for description of features and I'll build a full release version soon with proper credits etc.

Only thing I'll change is remove test naming fyi.

To install extract the recovery.zip (linked above) and flash_image.zip (from opt s post) and copy those to the ROOT of sdcard.
To flash recovery from root # shell do these commands. If install-recovery.sh doesn't exist on your phone just move to next step.

Code:

# mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock1 /system
 
# cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
 
# chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
 
# mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak
 
# mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock1 /system
 
# flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-GNM-OPT-T-test.img

# reboot recovery

Also dont worry about the E:Bad boot Message. Bad boot message is due to a evil service lg uses that instant reboots out of recovery. Service is disabled in my recovery causing that message on lg vortex, opt one and t. They use a different kernel setup on optimus s so that one doesn't have it. Its completely fine.

If you would like to back up your stock recovery you can do it via this command from a root shell PRIOR to flashing recovery

dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd2 of=/sdcard/recovery-dump-T.img bs=4096

I'm not going to host one as I'm not trying to get in any potential trouble from hosting LG's binary. Feel free for someone else to host and mirror stock if you want to.

used vol down +home + pwr key to get to recovery and reset phone to out of box. Pretty sure I followed all instructions to the letter. Is this not how I get to the su on the phone. Phone is permanent rooted with z4 root. But still cant achieve # in cmd on computer. help!?!?

Type "su" after you do "adb shell".

Any news? I'm working on my GFs new phone (which means I can't sign up to be a guinea pig).

After the custom recovery is set (and I can get a incredible for her to use while I play...) I'm more than up for helping in any developmental work I can (I'm well versed in root/roming as I have an OG droid and have done lots of playing.)

The custom recovery works as it should.
Typed all of the commands using the terminal emulator; very tedious.
Tried to install the optimus s thunderom, didn't want to install.
You should not install it in the first place, but I didn't know until now.

I have installed the recovery about a week ago and it has been working properly ever since... I think the optimus T is ready to receive a custom ROM :-)

We sent out the first beta earlier today. There was an issue flashing it so were working with someone right now on trying a second beta.
