    Default How can I buy a note 3 without a t-mobil plan?

Sorry if this has been asked before, I searched google and for some reason can't find the answer I am looking for.

I am on the $30 dollar unlimited data prepaid plan and want to buy a note3. How would I go about doing that?

    Thankyou

You could buy it from a T-Mobile store if you wanted. Walk in and pay $703 to buy it full price.

Or go online to like Newegg.com and buy one.

I think that the price for people on your plan is $740. It's higher than the $703.99 that people on plans $50 or higher pay. As Almeuit said, you have to go into a T-Mobile store to buy it. You can't buy it from T-Mobile's website.

i was told newegg's version (international unlocked) doesn't support T-Mobile's LTE bands, not sure how true it is.

You can also buy it from wirefly. They have the Tmobile version on their website. Depending where you live there may not be tax on it. For my state/city that's a big savings.

Supposedly, you can call Tmobile to buy it too off contract (also for the higher price that you would pay at the store) but I haven't tried calling them. When I went to a store to check it out, after tax it was going to come out to around $825 (I forget the exact price) so I'm going the wirefly route at $703.

I suggest calling T-Mobile directly. I got a good deal directly from T-Mobile. T-Mobile had a $100 off the listed price of $712 on Cyber Monday. I tried buying it on their website along with the $50 plan. Their website was having problems, so I called T-Mobile. The rep gave me an additional $100 off, and waived some other fees. So, I bought the phone for $512 + tax. A few days after I received the phone, I called T-Mobile to get the phone unlocked. Received the unlock code later that day; and, now I can use the phone with any provider that the phone works with.

You bought it with a plan though - that's a completely different situation. They will do things like that sometimes, but for people on the $30 prepaid they will charge you more not less. The biggest break I ever heard one is us get is matching full retail price (not including any discounts) instead of the extra charge.

I'm not discouraging anyone from calling - you may get a clueless new rep who doesn't know what they are doing and doesn't realize they are not supposed to give you any discounts, but no one on this prepaid low price plan should expect them to do anything to give you a break of any kind. You're lucky if they will give you the full retail price and not laugh in your face for asking.

Even if you are on prepaid, can't you buy it with a plan, then get it unlocked, cancel the plan, and then put you prepaid Sim card in the phone.

In most cases this would not be cost effective. To get it unlocked, the device has to be active on Tmobile for at least 40 days (sounds like they gave you a break there too), which would mean you would have to pay for at least 2 months of service on it. With taxes/fees on the $50 plan that would be about $120 depending where you live. Then there is the $25 activation and $10 Sim which they usually make you pay on a new plan even if you have a SIM but the SIM fee would probably be easiest to get waived. So, you're looking at $145/155. Now since you got almost $200 off and you said you got the other fees waived, it might still be worth to you, but that's an unusual case. It's not Cyber Monday anymore and even if someone got $100 now and all other fees waived it would not be worth it. Just the price of 2 months service alone would be more than that.

Even more importantly for some people is the credit check that is done with every Simple Choice plan regardless of whether you buy your phone up front in full. It's ridiculous how much a simple credit inquiry can negatively affect someone's credit rating even if they have good credit. Some people need to be more concerned about their credit rating than others for various reasons. I need to keep mine high so I don't apply for anything that requires a credit check unless it is a true necessity.

Also, where I live taxes on the device are still paid on the full price of the phone regardless of sale price so I'd still be paying $75 in taxes but a lot of states don't have that. Don't know about the OP's tax situation or yours. If I had to pay for 2 months Simple Choice service and full tax on the phone, it wouldn't be worth it even for $200 discount when I can buy it tax free without 2 months of extra unneeded service and no fees of any kind. But people can do the math for their particular circumstance and see if it makes any sense for them.

Where are you seeing the Tmobile version for that price? The only TMO Note 3 I see on there is for above retail price by an unauthorized seller with no warranty.

Your best choice is going into a T-Mobile and buying it for 708. Most places will give you the discounted price with activation. Also to get it unlocked you need active service for a "reasonable" amount of time. So I would say at least three months of prepaid service.

I bought my Note 3 on Swappa last week. I was looking for a used one but found a seller with new one that was still factory sealed in the box. I paid $580. I walked into T-Mobile and added it to the family plan my wife already had along side her mothers phone. It was straightforward and easy for me.
