Default New Tmobile Vibrant Official incremental update

No - it's not 2.3 - but it is nice to see Tmobile continue to release updates - though...through Keis and not OTA is kinda annoying.

I'd like to know also, If it does unroot the phone, I would rather not update it.

It looks like it does unroot the phone, but you can go here and follow the superoneclick insructions to root the phone again after you update.
Thanks to RandyN for the reply.

After performing the update, this is the first day since purchasing this phone it actually connects to and stays connected to my G37 bt. I'd almost given up and purchased a Nexus. Hope this is a fix!! fingers crossed.

    Default Backing up

Pretty sure when I last used kies to move up to 2.2, I had to start over from scratch because I did not back up my phone first. Before I upgrade this time I want to avoid that, however my phone is not rooted. What's the easiest way to back -up so I can restore the phone ?

Ok, I may have been overly excited. My car bt is back to intermittant connects/disconnects, gps hasn't really changed (don't know if this update was intended to fix). Now the phone is locking up on every app and forcing a power off/on. In addition, the phone is extremely HOT to the touch, not plugged into power. Think I'll put it in the fridge to get to a normal temp. So I'm not sure what's going on, will call Tmo & Samsung monday.

Another update: Not only is the (smart)phone locking up, jerky scrolling and no response when tapping various action (like tap home when in an app, no immediate response has about a 30-45 sec delay). Wow, OEM's why don't you just give us the stock android with the notsosmart phone so that we don't have to diddle with this type of crap. Surprised that it still functions as a phone.

Have you tried a factory reset yet? I know it's a pain, but sometimes updates (stock or not) don't work well with the data on your device. It SHOULDN'T happen on maintenance update, but that might be the case here.

Hey Is377, thanks for the reply. Yep, reset today about 5 times, that's the only way to get the phone to connect to my car's bt. I spoke to TMo (non-support group) and they told me that there are two things that Samsung has identified as wrong with this phone and those two are my problems. So they cannot do a "replacement" because of the manufacturer's technical notice. But, the supervisor would work a deal to get me another phone at a discount, my cost to replace a product that does not work: $320.00 for the mytouch.

Try calling Samsung about it. I don't see how it could be your problem if it happened after an update. Find out what those "problems" are.
