Value plans
I am trying to help a friend outt. He currently does not have a data plan on T-Mobile as he and his wife have dumbphones still. He was looking at the Value plans since he wants to move into the smartphone realm, but was told that if he signs up for that then he would be ineligible for the discounted phones. Does switching to the value plan require signing a new 2-year contract which would make him upgrade ineligible?

Re: Value plans
Disregard, just found it on T-Mobiles site.
So I guess since he is signing a new 2-year contract to get this plan he would lose the ability to upgrade his phones at a pro-rated price. You get your plan for an incredibly low monthly price—as low as $49.99/month per line for unlimited data, talk, and text on our 2-line family plan (data includes up to 2 GB of full speed). New two-year contract required. - 10-16-2011, 12:27 PM #3
Re: Value plans
The way that the value plans work is this: You have a make a down payment on the full price of the phone, you then have to pay a monthly fee towards the phone ($5-$15) until it is paid off in full. With the value plan you do not get any discount on the phones at all.
