Default The party is over (tethering)

So a week after upgrading to the Galaxy Nexus I'm tethering at work and on one page I get the upsell page that tells me to upgrade to at tethering plan.

Has anyone found a way around this without paying?

I was using pdanet to tether tonight ...trying to figure out if I was staying with T-Mobile or not, and I got the same message. It really pisses me off since I'm on a limited 2g data plan anyway. The latency is 2 to 10 times worse than Verizon, so this little message may give me the push I needed. For what it is worth, pdanet has some options for hiding tethering use, but it may make affect your usability. Never tried them.

Try usb. I don't think the hiding function works if you are using wireless tethering option on pda net. At least it didn't work until I switched to usb. After that I was able to connect.

I was on USB, always. But, I never used the hiding options.

Try that. It didn't work for me otherwise.

Give or a try if you have root access.
Some T-Mobile phones have a hidden system app called TetheringManager2.apk located in /system/app/. If you can, delete it and you will be able to use the Android native tethering feature.

I just tried open garden but I couldn't get it working. I couldn't get the SSID to broadcast.
I can get to the Internet if I change the user agent to something other than a desktop browser.

Btw I'm using a Galaxy Nexus unlocked boot loader and rooted.
