Any Houston (or elsewhere in TX) T-Mobile customers?
I'm currently a Verizon customer and have been considering ditching it for T-Mobile, since the plans are so much cheaper. I'm currently grandfathered in on unlimited data (and ordered a Galaxy S3 at full retail to retain it), which is my only temptation to stay with Verizon at this point.
The T-Mobile customers I know say they don't really have any issues, but I'm on the road quite a bit and their coverage maps of rural Texas/Louisiana are of concern...looks like it's pretty much 2G data the entire distance from Houston to Dallas/Shreveport/Austin, all of which I travel to often.
Can anyone in Houston (or elsewhere) comment on their experience with T-Mobile? - 07-16-2012, 09:09 PM #2
Re: Any Houston (or elsewhere in TX) T-Mobile customers?
I live in Houston and frequently drive to both Austin and Beaumont (which is near LA) and have a good bit of E on the way to Austin, and only back and forth between 4g and 3g on the way to Beaumont. Have not driven to Dallas yet, but from what I remember on the way to San Antonio it was very similar to my drive to Austin, but with more actual 4g wherever it wasn't E.
Otherwise the service is good, and I don't feel like i'm getting screwed on speed compared to LTE or other carriers. I work downtown and always have 4g unless i'm in my own building, which gives me either no bars at all or I have to stand in a stairwell to force it to switch to E. Oddly enough, I can go through the underground tunnel systems and get 4g and full bars the entire time!
